A year ago I decided to take the step I had always been thinking about and post something I created online. Not just on my social media (for my friends to see), but on a space in the World Wide Web for a number of strangers to see. I decided to start a blog..
You see, I had always thought about creating a blog, where I could share projects & recipes I created, as well as other little life bits. This is because, I would often create things and share a final picture on my personal social media – which resulted in getting questioned about how I made it, (so this seemed fitting).
Something about starting a blog and putting yourself out there made me a little nervous, because this would be full written posts, (+ a whole webpage), not just one picture. Also, working a full time job and then doing this on the side, seemed like a lot of work. After much debate, I decided to just go for it – I had nothing to loose and everything to gain. However, after posting my first couple of (very basic posts), I felt disheartened. I’d see a number of other successful people, beautiful blog pages, etc, and always felt that mine was subpar.
The first rule I learnt on this year long journey, was to never compare yourself to anyone. Easier said than done, right? Wrong, it is, you just have to believe in yourself and your work! So, as time went on, I started concentrating more on myself and what I loved doing, whilst putting out more content, that grew just like I did. I learnt that people don’t have to like what you do, you do – and with that each post got better.
Today, a year since I posted that very basic first post, I’m truly proud of my blog. It’s perfect (in my eyes). Taking a look back, I can see how much it’s grown, from its look, to each posts, everything in between. I love creating content and having a place to share it with a number of people.
I find it a little weird sometimes, to consider myself a “blogger” but, I’m happy I am! I’ve also got to interact with a number of other awesome bloggers, and I’m making new blogging friends daily -Pretty sweet if you’d ask me!
Of course all this wouldn’t be relevant if I didn’t have people supporting me along the way, so thank you so much for reading, engaging, and loving my work. Without an audience, this would just be an online book of my projects and writings! So I urge you to send me feedback whenever you may have it!
Whether you know me personally, of have just stumbled upon this little blog of mine, I hope you stick around to enjoy many more Birthdays of Create to Style!
Celebrating this happy milestone with my take on a “Naked” Cake! Super easy to make, yet so beautiful!
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
