Mini Herb Garden

Mini Herb Garden

Living in a condo means no big back yard to grow fruits and vegetables, whomp whomp whomp, however a little herb garden is perfect for my kitchen. For many years now, I searched through Pinterest to find ideas for mini indoor gardens, and boy was I impressed. I saw all sorts, from hanging planters, to Mason jars and everything in between. Since this is my first time doing anything like this, I decided to keep it small and basic. Originally I was going to try to grow the herbs myself, but honestly I don’t have a strong green thumb, so pre-potted ones were my best bet. I picked up the herbs at the Terra Greenhouse last weekend (3 for 10 dollars), but I’m sure you can find the potted ones anywhere. I decided to go with parsley, coriander and mint, but there are so many different herbs you can choose from. These were an easy pick for me, as I’m always using them when cooking, and who doesn’t love having mint on hand!? I found these little tin pots with a tray at my local dollar store for 2 dollars & thought it would be perfect to house all the herbs together. The only downside to the tin pots is that there is no hole to drain the water at the bottom, but you can always drill one yourself. (I opted to place larger rocks at the bottom, to help with this). Since my tin pots were the same size as the plastic pots the herbs came in, I simply repotted them with no added soil. The tin also made it easy for me to paint the names of each herb on the outside with some white paint! Make sure to set your little garden where there is plenty of sunlight and don’t over water! I love the way they all look sitting together, but most importantly love that I now have an indoor mini herb garden.
