Moon Phase Garland

Lately I’ve been into moon phase anything, so I thought why not create a little garland to string onto my headboard.

This DIY is cheap, quick and pretty easy, the things you will need are:

  1. Styrofoam balls (7 to 8) – size depending on your preference
  2. Black and white paint
  3. A foam brush or cotton pads (that’s what I used)
  4. Soft wire (any colour you please)
  5. Wire cutters
  6. A paperclip
  7. An old egg carton (optional)

Google an image you like of the moon phase, the more basic the better. Simply paint all the balls black and give them time to dry. Recreate the phases of the moon, using the white paint as you go along. I found a dabbing affect worked the best. (Feel free to use grey or silver paint as well). Use an old egg carton to let them sit to dry; this way you can lay out the phases of the moon before you wire them. Once you have your desired look, use an unbent paperclip to poke a hole from one side of the ball to the other. Straighten your wire and string them along. Lastly, hang it up and enjoy!
